Case study · Blushy Technologies Inc.

Blushy - Blushy Technologies Inc.

Blushy is a fashion app developed for Blushy Technologies that identifies clothing and accessories in influencer outfit photos and connects users with the stores where they can buy them.

Neon Apps designed and developed Blushy from the ground up for both iOS and Android, using Flutter and a single codebase. The goal was simple: when users find an outfit they like, they should be able to go beyond saving it. Blushy helps them identify the individual pieces and find where to buy them. Neon Apps was involved throughout the entire process, from scoping and UI/UX design to mobile development, product recognition and matching, store submission, and post-launch releases. Blushy launched on the App Store in February 2024, followed by its Android release, and development has continued with new versions since launch.

In short

Blushy is a fashion app developed by Neon Apps for Blushy Technologies, covering the full process from initial concept to launch and ongoing development.

Users can explore outfits shared by influencers they follow, see the individual pieces that make up each look, and access the stores where those products are available.

Blushy also features an eleven-step style profile covering body shape, colour analysis, preferred colours, categories users would rather avoid, and style icons. This allows the experience to reflect each user’s personal preferences rather than relying only on what is trending.

Blushy was developed for iOS and Android from a single Flutter codebase and has been available on the App Store since February 2024.

The client

Blushy Technologies Inc. developed Blushy around a simple idea: making it easier for people to find and buy the products they see in outfits they like.

Blushy Technologies led the fashion and partnership side of the project, building its influencer network, establishing relationships with brands including Boyner, DeFacto, İpekyol and Marks & Spencer, and developing an editorial collaboration with InStyle Türkiye.

Neon Apps was responsible for the product and technical development, including scoping, UI/UX design, mobile development, product recognition and matching, and the store processes for both platforms.

Why this project?

Saving an outfit you like on social media is easy.

Finding the exact pieces in that outfit and knowing where to buy them is much harder. Users often end up trying to describe a jacket or dress from a screenshot in a search engine or a store’s search bar, without ever finding the actual product. Blushy set out to make the journey from an outfit a user likes to the products they can actually buy as simple as possible. To do that, the app needed to go beyond suggesting visually similar products. It had to identify the individual pieces in an outfit, match them with products in retailer catalogues, and direct users to the stores where they could buy them. At the same time, the experience needed to reflect each user’s personal style. Blushy Technologies brought its fashion expertise, influencer network, retail relationships and editorial partnerships to the project. Neon Apps handled the technical side end to end, from scoping and design to the iOS and Android development.

Challenge

Everyone knew what they wanted, but building the right product wasn’t simple

Users were already saving outfits they liked. The challenge was identifying the actual products shown in those images and helping users move from inspiration to purchase.

  • 01

Getting from a photograph to a product

When users see an outfit they like on Instagram, taking a screenshot is easy. Finding the exact jacket, dress or accessory afterwards is not. Searching for a product based on a description often leads to similar items rather than the product itself. The real challenge was therefore not discovering the outfit, but identifying its individual pieces and helping users reach the products they could actually buy.

  • 02

    Personalisation meant understanding the user

A meaningful style feed cannot rely on popular products alone. Body shape, colouring, preferred colours, categories someone avoids and personal style preferences all affect what should be recommended. That’s why Blushy goes beyond a standard sign-up process with a dedicated style profile designed to understand each user’s preferences.

  • 03

At the point of purchase, a similar product wasn’t enough

Knowing that an item in a photograph is a white dress is only the first step. Blushy needed to match that item with products in retailer catalogues and connect the user directly with a relevant product they could buy. The goal was to reduce the need for another search between discovering an outfit and reaching the retailer’s product page.

Approach

How we built it

The Blushy experience is built around three core steps: discovering an outfit, identifying the pieces in it, and reaching products the user can buy. Development therefore began with recognising individual items in outfit photos and matching them with retailer products. The style profile was then integrated into the experience so the outfits shown to each user could reflect their preferences.

Process

Two years of development

  1. Phase 01

    Discovery

We defined the product scope together with Blushy’s founders, including what the recognition and matching system needed to deliver and which retailer catalogues it would work with.

  2. Phase 02

    Design

We designed the user flow, profile process and product screens as one connected experience, following the order in which users encounter them in the app. The goal was to create the clearest and shortest possible path from discovering an outfit to reaching a product.

  3. Phase 03

    Development

We developed Blushy for iOS and Android from a single Flutter codebase, supported by the product recognition and matching system and retailer catalogue integrations.

  4. Phase 04

    Launch and later versions

Blushy launched on the App Store in February 2024, followed by its Android release. Development continued after launch, with matching accuracy improving across new versions. As of September 2026, the app is on version 9.7.

Build

What we built, screen by screen

Blushy’s core experience is designed around a sequence of connected screens and features.

  • Blushy home feed with brand stories across the top and the all-looks tab selected
    The feed
  • A look in the Blushy feed with the pieces it contains listed underneath, each tagged with its retailer
    A look and its pieces
  • The three stages of the Blushy style profile: get to know you, confirm your size, build your Blushy
    The profile, in three stages
  • The first profile question, asking the user to pick the body shape closest to their own
    Body shape
  • The colour analysis step asking for a selfie, with guidance to remove glasses and accessories
    Colour analysis
  • An influencer profile in Blushy with follower count and a grid of their looks, each showing how many products it contains
    An influencer's looks
  • The similar-products sheet open over a look, with icons for each part of the outfit and tabs for clothing and cosmetics
    What is in this look
  • The matched pieces grouped by category, tops and earrings and hoodies, each product card tagged with the retailer that sells it
    Matched to retailers
  • A product page in Blushy for a DeFacto straw shoulder bag, with buttons to open the retailer's site or save it
    The product
  • The try-on screen asking the user to upload a full-length photo, with examples of suitable and unsuitable pictures
    Try it on
01 Feed

Outfits and the pieces in them

Brand stories appear at the top of the feed, followed by outfits. Users can explore the feed in three ways: all outfits, people they follow and their style twin. Each outfit includes the individual pieces that make up the look and the stores where those products are available.

  • Blushy home feed with brand stories across the top and the all-looks tab selected
  • A look in the Blushy feed with the pieces it contains listed underneath, each tagged with its retailer
02 Style profile

Understanding the user before making recommendations

The profile process begins with body shape. Skin, hair and eye colour are then analysed using a selfie uploaded by the user. Colour preferences, categories and style icons complete the profile. Users can update this information later, and their content feed adapts to those preferences.

  • The three stages of the Blushy style profile: get to know you, confirm your size, build your Blushy
  • The first profile question, asking the user to pick the body shape closest to their own
  • The colour analysis step asking for a selfie, with guidance to remove glasses and accessories
03 Outfit to product

From inspiration to purchase

When users open an outfit from an influencer’s profile, its individual pieces are displayed according to where they are worn on the body. Each piece includes the relevant store and a link to the product page. Virtual try-on also allows users to see a selected product on a photo of themselves.

  • An influencer profile in Blushy with follower count and a grid of their looks, each showing how many products it contains
  • The similar-products sheet open over a look, with icons for each part of the outfit and tabs for clothing and cosmetics
  • The matched pieces grouped by category, tops and earrings and hoodies, each product card tagged with the retailer that sells it
Growth

How the app grows

Blushy’s growth model was designed around the product’s own user cycle, with four key areas:

  • Activation

    A personalised first feed

Users complete the style profile before reaching the content feed. This means the outfits they see from the beginning are shaped by their preferences rather than popularity alone.

  • Acquisition

    The influencer network

Instagram and word of mouth are among the main sources of new users. Influencers whose outfits appear on Blushy also create a natural path for their audiences to discover the app.

  • Retention

    Saved outfits and fresh content

Users can build a personal archive by saving outfits they like. Brand stories are refreshed, while coupons are available through Stil Radarı. As of September 2026, Blushy has a rating of 4.7 out of 5 from 203 ratings on the Turkish App Store.

  • Commerce

    Dedicated spaces for brands

Brands have dedicated pages and discounts within the app. Users can move from discovering an outfit to exploring individual products and brand pages within the same experience.

Together, these elements create a natural discovery journey: users see an outfit, explore its individual pieces through Blushy, and continue to the relevant products.

Technology

Blushy was built for iOS and Android from a single Flutter codebase.

One of Blushy’s core technical functions is recognising clothing and accessories in photographs and matching them with retailer products users can buy. The recognition system identifies the individual pieces in an outfit, while the matching system connects those pieces with products in retailer catalogues. The style profile helps personalise the outfits shown to each user, while virtual try-on allows users to see selected products on their own photos.

I had 4 native iOS applications developed. The Neon Apps team was by our side in all steps of the work. Product management was very friendly and professional. We managed the Store process very well.
